由于吸液管道或者轴封的地方有泄漏会导致空气被吸入到单螺杆泵里面，这样单螺杆泵就会处于吸空气的状态，莫诺，进口管道不能形成负压所以螺杆泵吸不上液体。处理方法是检查、修理管道，排除杂物，调整更换轴封。单螺杆泵电机反转也会导致螺杆泵吸不上液体的现象出现，调整电机的极性接头就可以了。抽吸的矿浆太干，或在半干状态下运转也是螺杆泵吸不上液体的原因，这种情况只能稀释或向进料口加入充足的矿浆。输送的液体粘度太高也会导致螺杆泵吸不上液体，如果是液体粘度太高的问题只能降低螺杆泵的转速然后提高液体的温度后使其粘度降低或者改用立式螺杆泵。
